Do we have a stayer on our hands?

Hand It In ($26) scored an extraordinary victory in the Kia Ora Stud Benchmark 80 Handicap (2200m) on stand-alone Saturday at Scone after backing up from a 1500m win the previous Tuesday in a Benchmark 65 Handicap at Newcastle.

Commencing the race back and wide as he past the post for the first time, getting out four deep travelling down the back to move up to be near the lead on the turn before bounding clear to win by 2-3/4 lengths.

The win was the four-year-old gelding by Tickets fifth from 19 starts and he remains unbeaten beyond 2000m.

Rod’s instructions to winning rider Rachel King were to “keep him flowing, you cannot come back on him or he won’t get going again, don’t panic, just stay to the outside of them and keep him in a rhythm and he’ll keep going” which he did.
